Austin Plaine - Never Come Back Again

Another year has come up to a close! The offset State Tournament I attended was boot day in 2004. I didn't attend 2005, went to jazz and kick in 2006, kick only in 2007, and starting in 2008 I have never missed a tournament solar day. To date, for me, this may have been the virtually exciting tournament I've been to. Nosotros saw some epic final performances in qualifying and in finals I really felt each team brought the burn down. My highlights were seeing a Cannon Falls dad admittedly going wild during boot finals, Bit playing Gangster'south Paradise with anybody waving their flashlights on their phone in the stands, Totino Grace's coaches watching their squad with pride as they competed, Lakeville North reacting with just as much excitement seeing their neighbour, Lakeville Southward, advance to finals equally they did when they advanced, and watching Eastview clench a double championship; making it 20 Country Titles for now-retired caput coach, Jenny Raiche, in 20 years. Happy to take seen each of those championship wins in person – majority peak center.

Regardless of how your team performed or placed be proud; there is Then MUCH talent in Minnesota and it was awesome seeing information technology on the big phase. Check out the State 2022 Results to see how everyone scored and ranked. Information technology was such a tight race in each category and class. In Form A Kick and AA Boot we saw the top two places flip from qualifying into finals and there were several ties throughout the entire weekend.

Thank you for following along for my rookie season of dancefo.com. Already counting downward the days to November 2023 to start loading in scores for next year! Congrats to anybody and see y'all soon!

I don't know near you lot, simply I'm feeling State '22! We Fabricated IT! Later two long years we are headed BACK to the Target Center for the big event and I'thousand sure everyone is excited! I can't wait to feel the energy at Land again, catch up with trip the light fantastic toe team friends I've met over the years, here the roar of cheers from the unbeatable fan base that is Class A, devour a Parlour Burger (outside section 113) subsequently prelims, and virtually importantly spotter teams truly alive their best lives center flooring! But before everything begins I must commencement scout Bring It On this night (which is too a tradition of mine the nighttime before State), but I must also embark on my very offset Country Preview.

Land medals are up for grabs and in that location are then many talented teams that it'south going to exist a fight but to make it in finals. Normally at this time I feel everything is predictable, with of course surprises happening at country each year, only this twelvemonth just seems so close and that much more exciting.

Below y'all will find a breakdown of the order or performance and some trip the light fantastic toe squad cognition I accept. Rankings are based on the average of each teams department scores. If you take lists of participants or Country finishes (rank points welcomed) from any yr please email travis@dancefo.com .

To all teams competing this weekend GOOD LUCK! Enjoy every moment with your teammates, coaches, student managers and fans! Regardless of what happens on that floor this weekend be proud of all the growth and accomplishments your team has made this season! Without further ado, check out the breakdowns below! How is it already STATE WEEK!? Can't believe another season is well-nigh in the books but here we are and I cannot wait. Sections are over, results have been entered into the site (before fri!? yay!) and we're down to the concluding practices before the teams hit the Target Center flooring. I'll do a State Preview later this week (be on the lookout for that Thursday) but for now it's analysis on Sections.

Attached you volition find the 2022 State Leaderboard based on the boilerplate scores from Sections for each class. Caput over to the Sections Results to see how everything shook out in greater detail. Some sections were fairly anticipated, some had some shakeups and others had history making moments!

Class A Jazz: Lake City (ranked 9th) and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (ranked 10th) are the 2 teams in the Top 12 that did non advance to State in A Jazz. Section 1A, where Lake Urban center hails from, only had two teams advance to State due to number of competitors in the fashion (nine teams). Department 3A interestingly also had 9 teams compete in Jazz too but were able to advance the traditional three teams to state in the manner. To residual out the field, Section 2A advanced four teams to land to make up the 12 teams we volition encounter compete Friday. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton placed 6th at State in 2021.

Class A Kicking: Assuming and Wabasha-Kellogg are the two teams in the Top 12 that did not advance to Country in A Kick. I hear Bold had a very creative and stylized Hip Hop kick routine consummate with tricks; if anyone has a video please let me know! Wabasha-Kellog's Nerd themed kick from 2020 is still a favorite of mine.

Class AA Jazz: Simley and Belle Plaine are the 2 teams that narrowly missed a adventure at State AA Jazz. SImley, coming from 1AA, saw New Prague and 2 Rivers (both formerly AAA) get added to their section this season making information technology an additional battle for a top spot. Belle Plaine, from 3AA, saw Holy Family (formerly Class A) get added to their section. Holy Family unit medaled in Jazz in 2020 (2nd) and 2021 (3rd).

Grade AA Kick: Hutchinson and Two Rivers are the 2 teams that did non advance to Land in AA Kick. Ii Rivers danced to a fun upbeat Storm themed dance; I particularly enjoyed watching it at the Eastview Invitational since the gym floor has lightning bolts on it. I didn't go a chance to run across Hutchinson this season. In 2020 they qualified for State in jazz ultimately placing 11th.

Class AAA Jazz: Chaska and Prior Lake did non qualify for Country Jazz in AAA. I had a run a risk to run into both teams concluding performances and they really gave it everything they had. Chaska qualified for State Jazz from 2010-2014 (three years in AAA, 2 in AA) making it to finals all 5 times. Prior Lake qualified for State Jazz from 2013-2020 making information technology to finals the last four times.

Class AAA Kick: AAA Kick had the biggest imbalance with three teams in the Top 12 not advancing to State; Eden Prairie and Hopkins from 2AAA and Burnsville from 1AAA. I was able to see their final performances and again these teams gave it everything they had! Although Eden Prairie missed in Kick (placing fifth after a tie breaker to Hopkins) they did qualify for Jazz. Hopkins had one of my favorite routines of the season; they last qualified for State Kicking in 2012 ultimately placing 10th. Burnsville displayed snappy and high kicks to "Puttin on the Ritz". Burnsville last qualified for State Kick in 2013 where they placed 3rd.

To all teams that had their seasons stop the past two weeks exist proud of the growth your team saw throughout the flavour! Each season end sets the bar for side by side year and you all rise to the occasion and exceed expectations EVERY year! To the teams dancing this weekend GOOD LUCK and take FUN! Cannot await to see you give it your all!

What a great first weekend! Congrats to those teams who avant-garde to country and also to those who had season best performances last calendar week! Excited to see how Weekend Two shakes out with even more section tournaments! Good luck to all teams competing this weekend and can't look to come back next week to preview Land 2022!

1A – Section 1A takes place at Lake City High Schoolhouse. A smaller pool of jazz teams here so only two will be advancing to the state tournament making it an even tighter competition. Boot will be advancing the traditional iii teams. My prediction: Zumbrota-Mazeppa will win Jazz and Lake City volition take Kick.

2A – This section picks upwards the boosted Jazz team from 1A. Information technology will be exciting to watch since the average scores are TIGHT amidst many teams. St. Deject Cathedral also is new to this section after competing and advancing to state for many years in AA. I predict St. Cloud Cathedral will sweep here this weekend.

3A – The concluding Form A Department Meet volition have place at Montevideo. This section is such a battle with some top tier programs in Class A. The LQPV-DB / Yellowish Medicine East matchups are always a favorite of mine to see year after yr; they truly seem to push button each other to be better and meliorate. It will be tight – about a toss up but I'm going with LQPV-DB will win Jazz and Yellow Medicine E will reclaim the Section Title in Kick.

1AA
– Eager to see how this section shakes out with fresh faces New Prague and Ii Rivers joining the section this year after being in AA. Scores here, specially in Kick, accept flip flopped all yr and New Prague has the opportunity to brand program history and make Land for the outset fourth dimension! I'g predicting New Prague will take top honors in Jazz and Austin volition come up out on top in Kick.

2AA – N Branch will play host to the back-and-forth boxing between Benilde-St. Margaret'due south and Totino Grace. The battle between these ii teams in AA is also a favorite of mine; they e'er are coming upwardly with something new to button the needle a little fleck farther for each other. I think this is another section where we volition run into i team double blue and my prediction is going to Benilde-St. Margaret'southward.

1AAA – The second of the back-to-dorsum sections (and the final results to roll in each yr) volition be hosted at Bloomington Kennedy. This will be my 15th consecutive yr attending (or I guess watching because 2021 I watched from abode) 1AAA. I miss the days of seeing these teams reveal brand new Kick dances but the ones they are bringing to the flooring this year are a must see! Based on boilerplate scores it is a safe bet for Eastview to sweep both Jazz and Kick.

3AAA The earlier section hosted at Bloomington Kennedy welcomes Blaine and Forest Lake this yr. Scores here I call back are the tightest they've been in a while with it truly being able to go a number of ways for the three teams that will advance. I am predicting Blaine volition win jazz and Leap Lake Park will have Kick.

And nosotros're finally here – first weekend of sections for 2022 and I am so excited! Here's a quick breakup of where sections are taking identify. Be sure to cheque out the Sections Leaderboards to see where teams stack up!

4AAA – Things get kicked off TONIGHT at 6 p.m. at St. Michael Albertville. I personally will be making the trek up to see how everything unfolds – hoping the lights stay on (4AAA 2019 anyone?). Scores are very tight here between a couple teams. My prediction is Maple Grove will take the Blue in Jazz and Sartell will have information technology home in Kick.

4A – Wadena Deer Creek plays host for the only Class A section this weekend. Some spread out scores from the field. My prediction is Frazee will accept Jazz and Crosby-Ironton volition take Boot.

3AA – This section is And so close year after yr with many teams bringing groovy talent to the floor and the competition at Mound Westonka this year will be no different. It'll all come downwardly to what hits on the flooring (obviously) only if you had these teams each compete three different times yous would probable end up with different outcomes which makes the department so exciting to scout! In the end my prediction is Orono wins Jazz and Mound Westonka Kick.

4AA
– The northern AA section is hosted at Sauk Rapids-Rice this year with the host schoolhouse returning back to AA. Sartell moving upwards to AAA allows for more talent to be brought to Land from this section. My prediction is Sauk Rapids-Rice will accept the top honors for both Jazz and Kick.

2AAA – The boxing that is top talent in the state will accept place at Chanhassen tomorrow and I am excited to encounter 1 of my favorite kick routines of the flavour take the flooring! I exercise not green-eyed the judges at this competition considering they have the hardest job getting those scores down for this section; so many teams would do so well at the Land level – they just have to survive 2AAA first. I call up Wayzata volition be the other school to double blue this weekend.

It'south sections weekend already and I am and so excited to brand my way up to St. Michael Albertville this night and then over to Chanhassen tomorrow! Attached yous volition find the 2022 Sections Leaderboard! The teams were ranked based on the boilerplate of their last three performances. Lots of close scores across the state in all classes and these averages are past no means what is going to happen! Some of the scores taken into the average were from Dec and some of these teams haven't faced off head-to-caput. The top x in the field again looks fairly balanced with the exception of AAA Kicking. Good luck to all teams competing and tin't wait to see some season all-time performances!

Flew down to Orlando to cheer on all the Minnesota teams so didn't have time to update the site. As an apology, here is the UDA Schedule with Key Time.

Back from the Holidays and in full swing; or a swing depending on your Influenza/Covid situation. Some teams take had to make adjustments or sit this weekend out due to all the germs floating effectually but those that are salubrious are ready to rock. I am and then excited for the listing of events this weekend starting off with LQPV-DB Invite and Best of the All-time this evening followed by half dozen invitationals around the land tomorrow so let'south swoop in! (my competition schedules may exist outdated equally I run across Lakeville South appearing at ii unlike invites with functioning times extremely close together; apologies if I am not upward to engagement)

Best of the Best – One of my favorite events of the twelvemonth is BACK this year with a stellar lineup! 31 routines will take the floor at Williams Arena this evening including many of our premiere college teams debuting their performances for a Large audience! College of Saint Benedict, Minnesota State Academy Mankato, Northward Dakota State University, Premier Dance Team, St. Cloud Country University, University of Minnesota, University of Minnesota Duluth and University of Saint Thomas Dance Teams will accept performances y'all won't desire to miss!

LQPV-DB Invitational – eight Varsity Jazz routines and vii Varsity Kick routines will boxing it out Friday dark at LQPV-DB! Eager to come across how St. Cloud Cathedral and LQPV-DB score confronting each other as they have been battling it out on the leaderboard. St. Deject Cathedral starts off the jazz competition this evening to set the tone!

Alexandria Invitational – Alexandria volition exist hosting a mix department and mix class invitational with 11 teams looking for some great scores. Holy Family unit is the favorite hither in jazz every bit they take been holding their ain back in AA this season – currently ranked tenth on the leaderboard! In the Kick Category Delano will be looking to make moves for the top spot as they come in ranked seventh on the leaderboard.

Bloomington Kennedy Invitational – The Kolleens host a AA and AAA invitational in their giant gym; I love the view here and am happy Sections will exist hosted here next month! AA we will encounter Fridley and Albert Lea become caput-to-head in the Jazz and Kick categories. Over in AAA Blaine, Forest Lake, Hopkins and Lakeville Southward will exist looking to start the new year's day strong every bit they've had great scores posted and so far this season! Lakeville South is the favorite year making the top x on both leaderboards this flavor but I must say I am and so excited to encounter how Hopkins has connected to evolve their kick routine; a favorite of mine this season!

Edina Invitational – The fun that has been 2020, 2021 and now 2022 has kept some routines home this weekend after their initial lineup but this competition still has quite a flake of talent taking the floor this weekend. AA we will see Austin, Faribault, Mound Westonka, New Prague and Orono boxing it out again for top spots later Eastview Invitational. AA this season is and then heady to spotter equally we have so many teams really finding their stride and some choreography that I admittedly love. AAA will exist a battle of it's own as we see EIGHT of the Top 10 Leaderboard hitting the flooring – the judges are in for a tough one but information technology's going to be so fun to spotter!

Two Rivers – Two Rivers hosts a large invitational of A, AA and AAA teams taking the flooring. AAA kicks everything off in the morn with a great grouping of talent from 3AAA. Duluth East enters the contest with the highest Jazz score and Rochester Century with the highest Kick score. Class A favorite Cannon Falls (ranked fifth in Jazz and 10th in Kick on the leaderboard) takes on ACGC, Goodhue and Spectrum. Two Rivers is the favorite going in score wise from AA.

Additional Invitationals: Anoka and Winona; no schedules at time of mail service.

Wow, hard to believe nosotros're already halfway through the season! #25DaysOfDanceTeam flew by and nosotros're already at the Mid-Season Leaderboard updates. I always honey this fourth dimension of year to run across who is trending where on the scoresheet and comparing if the order matches what has been placing recently. The teams were ranked based on their highest average score past department. The Top 10 listing looks more balanced than by years with just 5 teams total not in the top 3 of their section. Lots of shut scores across the state in all classes! I am excited to see what this next half of the season has in store – cheers to 2022!

The snowfall has just started to fall where I am so figured what all-time to do than to preview my favorite December weekend! Nine invitationals will each be hosted throughout the state this weekend. Some teams and routines are taking the floor for the offset fourth dimension and others are finding ways to maximize the scoresheet! Wayzata posted an average score yesterday of 89.2 – could this be the weekend we see our first team average of xc? Time will tell – until then allow'due south dive into what'southward to come!

Waconia Invitational – A smaller mixed class contest will be taking place at Waconia High School on Sabbatum! Aitkin, Buffalo, GFW, Rogers and Waconia volition be on the chase for a Due west and will be looking to make moves on the scoresheet.

Fridley Invitational – AA and AAA will exist on display in Fridley's gym Saturday. Columbia Heights volition exist debut their Jazz routine in AA against Fridley, Hermantown and N Co-operative. The same teams will face off in the Kick partition. Course AAA brings together four teams from Section 3AAA. Forest Lake and Jump Lake Park are leading currently on the leaderboard here, merely anything tin can happen during comp day earlier a winner is alleged.

Albany Invitational – Grade A will bring ACGC, BBE-Paynesville, Holdingford, Litchfield, Melrose and Pierz, all Section 2A, together. ACGC leads the Grade A teams currently in Kick and Holdigford leads in Jazz. In AA three teams from Section 3AA will matchup confronting three teams from Section 4AA. Scores could exist shut in this division equally Delano and Hutchinson lead the grouping in Jazz separated by only two tenths of a point.

Lakeville North Invitational
– Eight AA teams and 10 AAA teams will face off in one of our larger competitions this weekend. AA will be a tight race for a win and AAA will see 2021 State Competitors Anoka, Lakeville North, and Lakeville S go at it with a talented Hopkins program thrown into the mix. Scores here could first setting the tone for what teams will be working on over winter break.

Eastview Invitational – One of the highlights of my December is going to the Eastview Invitational and getting to sentry some of our states top tier programs prove a little taste of what's to come in February. Eastview has the largest lineup this weekend with 54 Varsity Routines set to hit the floor. In AA we volition see Benilde, Mound Westonka, Orono and Totino Grace wait for a win – Sartell is up to AAA this year and then the Land Title is up for grabs and we have iv of the strongest AA Jazz programs striking the same gym. AA Kick will be just every bit heady with Austin, Benilde, Faribault, Mound Westonka, Totino Grace meeting up with AA newcomers New Prague and Two Rivers – very excited to see what scores shake out hither. If that isn't enough of a lineup to entice you to hit upward the gym at Eastview perhaps the AAA teams will. There are so many talented teams coming together and we volition see how Sartell fits into the mix of the talent. Placing in the tiptop vii volition be an accomplishment in itself here.

Additional Invites: Detroit Lakes and Rushford Peterson; no schedules to me at the time of posting. Renville County West and Zumbrota-Mazeppa take been cancelled.
